A Comparison of nomifensine (merital^(®)) and amitriptyline in the treatment of depression

Abstract
|

|
A double-blind study was carried out to compare the therapeutic efficacy and frequency of unwanted side effects to a group of 31 patients treated with nomifensine (merital®) or ami￢triptyline with depressive illness.
The two drugs did make little differences in terms of the antidepressive efficacy or the degree of responses. However the subjects treated with nomifensine showed considerably less incidence of the side effects.
